Tzaritza, a French bred daughter of Arrowfield Stud’s champion sire Snitzel, is set to make her debut for red-hot trainer Mike de Kock on Saturday.
The five-year-old mare, who races for Dr and Mrs McVeigh, Mike de Kock, J J Van Der Linden and Noelene Malherbe, is one of twenty runners carded to face the starter in the First Steps Kindergarten Maiden Plate for fillies and mares at the Vaal this weekend.
Tzaritza, who gets the services of Luke Ferraris on Saturday, was bred by The Aga Khan Studs.
She was knocked down to Form Bloodstock for €20 000 at the 2018 Goffs November Breeding Stock Sale.
Tzaritza’s pedigree is a familiar one to South African racing enthusiasts – the mare is out of the Sinndar daughter Tazkara, the dam of four winners including G1 Sun Met winner Whisky Baron (header image).
Tazkara, herself an unraced daughter of G3 Prix Vanteaux runner up Tashiriya (by Kenmare), is a half-sister to G3 Darley Prix de la Nonette victress Tashelka (dam of G2 winner Tasaday and G3 winner Tribal Beat).
Further back, this is the family of G1 Phoenix Stakes winner Damson, Prix Royal-Oak winner Tiraaz and Prix Morny winning sire Arcano.
