Maine Chance Farms’ sire Silvano, recently crowned South Africa’s Champion Sire for a fifth time, is set to possibly make more waves soon.

His high-class daughter Happy Valentine is set to be represented on the Magic Millions Gold Coast National Yearling Sale which takes place next week on Monday and Tuesday.

Consigned by Arrowfield Stud (As Agent), Happy Valentine’s filly on offer (Lot 1214) is a daughter of Arrowfield’s late, great sire Redoute’s Choice – responsible in South Africa for such standout performers as Majmu, Mustaaqeem, Musir, Rafeef and Wylie Hall.

Happy Valentine has plenty to recommend her as a broodmare prospect. Not only is she a daughter of a five-time South African champion sire, but she was a top-flight performer herself.

The speedy mare won three times up to 1200m, winning in both France and South Africa, and defeated a high-class field when victorious in the 2013 G1 Allan Robertson Championship.

Among those beaten by Happy Valentine in the Allan Robertson were champion and dual G1 winner Along Came Polly, multiple stakes winner Sea Cat, and G2 The Debutante winner My Sanctuary.

One of 25 G1 winners sired by Silvano, Happy Valentine (who is bred on the same cross as red hot sire and Jebel Hatta winner Vercingetorix) is a half-sister to G2 Senor Santa Handicap winner Happy Forever.
