SEEKING THE STARS MAKES ALL IN GREEN POINT STAKES
December 4, 2021Maine Chance Farms’ sensational sire Vercingetorix was responsible for a third winner on the Kenilworth card when his son Seeking The Stars made all to win the star-studded G2 WSB Club Prive Green Point Stakes (1600m) at Kenilworth on Saturday.
Winner of the G3#ThisIsRacing Matchem Stakes last time out, the Vaughan Marshall trained Seeking The Stars was somewhat overlooked in the betting for the Green Point Stakes, with stablemate Linebacker sent off favourite for Saturday’s feature.
Under a confident ride from Anton Marcus, four-year-old Seeking The Stars was quickly sent to the front and raced well clear of his chasing rivals.
Turning for home, Seeking The Stars still had a healthy advantage and, with 300m left to run, looked a hard horse to peg back.

Richard Fourie asked reigning Horse Of The Year Rainbow Bridge the question close home, and that evergreen seven-year-old rallied gamely in the closing stages, only to find the line coming too soon and Seeking The Stars holding on to score by just under half a length.
For a fourth year running Rainbow Bridge found a place in the Green Point Stakes, with the son of Ideal World finishing nearly three-parts of a length clear of Linebacker.
Disappointment of the race was champion Jet Dark, with the latter never threatening and only finishing fourth -more than four lengths off the winner.
Bred by Klawervlei Stud, Seeking The Stars claimed his first G2 success in a time of 99.85 seconds.
A second graded stakes winner on the day for his sire, Seeking The Stars was a R425 000 buy from the 2019 CTS Ready To Run Sale.
Saturday’s winner, a half-brother to G3 Cape Of Good Hope Nursery runner up Seventh Sea, is out of Listed Winter Oaks winner Schism -a half-sister to the stakes winning dam of G1 winner Lobo’s Legend.
