Monique and Louw Schabort own Paarl Diamant Estate, where they have been breeding or spelling horses for several years, concentrating on thoroughbreds for the last five years.

They have consigned seven two-year-olds to the CTS Ready To Run Sale and having broken them in and put them through their paces, have a good idea of what they will be presenting to buyers.

Lot 26 is their first “Diamond” on the sale, an unnamed filly by champion freshman sire Captain Of All from Glorious Moment (Count Du Bois). Monique says this one is “a powerhouse filly” who has a strong work ethic and a quick turn of foot. She’s a spunky type who will giver her rivals a run for their money.

Remus (Lot 44) is a strongly built son of VAR, who could well be a capable sprinter in the making judged on his well-proven sire and his dam, the stakes winning sprinter Joshua’s Mistress (by Joshua Dancer).

The in-form Pathfork has produced Follow Suit (Lot 113), from the mare Suedette (Dynasty), who won two races. “He’s a flashy colt with a long, flowing stride, nimble on his feet and should be an early type,” Monique assessed.

Crack it Open (Lot 119) is regarded as big and scopy, solidly built and well balanced with a sound mind. He stands over a lot of ground and is an honest colt who always puts his best foot forward.

A very nice athletic type is Lot 133, Fast Love, a colt by Master Of My Fate with a good, intelligent mind, and he moves particularly well. He is smart, easy to work with and sets out to please.

Lot 134, Adventure Time, is a striking, good looking filly with an athletic build and movement to match. She is by globe-trotter Linngari from the family of stakes winner Wonderwall. She looks like a real fighter who will rise to any challenge.

Xenon (Lot 147) is described as “a lion-hearted colt by exciting stallion Vercingetorix from a mare by Encosta De Lago. He’s a splitting image of his dam-sire, a very strong and attractive colt.”
