HASTA MANANA ROMPS TO MODEL MAN MILE WIN

Klawervlei Stud’s promising young stallion William Longsword looks to have come up with another smart first-crop prospect in the form of Hasta Manana.

That three-year-old put up an eye catching performance when running out a visually impressive winner of Sunday’s Listed Model Man Mile (1600m), which was run at Hollywoodbets Greyville.

Runner up in each of his first four starts, before finishing seventh in the G1 Premiers Champion Stakes on his final start at two, the Gareth Van Zyl trained Hasta Manana appears to have come into his own at three.

The gelding made it two wins from his last three outings with a clear-cut win in Sunday’s R100 000 feature for three-year-olds.

Under Anton Marcus, Hasta Manana raced just off the front running Aisling early on, before Marcus bought him with a sweeping run down the outside of the Greyville course.

The pair kicked clear in the closing stages to win the 2021 Model Man Mile by over a length and a half, with Purple Flame (Potala Palace) finishing second -half a length in front of the previously unbeaten Quasiforsure (Quasillo.
Bred by Rathmor Stud, Hasta Manana claimed the second win of his career in a time of 98.02 seconds.

The gelding is out of the Holy Roman Emperor mare Queen Of Spain -a winning three-parts sister to deceased four time G1 winner and successful sire Mastercraftsman, G3 Locust Grove Handicap queen Genuine Devotion and G1 Moyglare Stud Stakes runner up Famous.

Queen Of Spain was sold to Rathmor Stud for R2 600 000 at the 2018 CTS Breeding Stock Sale.
