GREYVILLE DOUBLE FOR RAFEEF
Ridgemont Highlands’ prominent young stallion Rafeef had a good Sunday afternoon, with the son of Redoute’s Choice supplying two winners at Hollywoodbets Greyville.
Rafeef’s first winner on the card was the well bred filly Our Emily, who got off the mark in fine style when capturing Sunday’s first race at Greyville.
Making just her second start, having finished fifth on debut, the Michael Roberts trained three-year-old kept finding more in Sunday’s Call Now! Or play online. www.trackandball.co.za Maiden Plate (F&M) (1200m) to win by half a length.
Our Emily, who was ridden to victory by rising star Rachel Venniker, was bred by Moutonshoek.
The Rafeef daughter is out of Captain Al’s stakes winner daughter Only Emily.
Rafeef’s second success on Sunday came when his gelded son Pashtunwali won the third race for trainer Justin Snaith and jockey Anton Marcus.
Runner up in his two previous starts, the Rafeef sired three-year-old kicked on smartly to land Sunday’s Soccer Any15 Maiden Plate (1400m) by just over half a length.
Just once out of the placings thus far, Pashtunwali is out of the Silvano mare Home Safe.
Rafeef has made a tremendous start to his stud career -not only was the G1 Computaform Sprint winner South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2020-2021, he is also South Africa’s Leading Second Season Sire of 2021-2022.
