Trainer Glen Kotzen looks to have a well above average two-year-old in the form of Good Traveller.

The latter made it three wins from three starts when he ran out a comfortable winner of the G3 Godolphin Barb Stakes (1100m) at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday afternoon.

A brilliant winner on debut, the Visionaire gelding made it two wins from two starts next time out when beating subsequent winner Party Time over 1200 metres, and he made it three wins from three starts with a professional display on Sunday.

Under inform jockey Grant Van Niekerk, Good Traveller was always up with the pace and when front runner Social Image dropped out of contention close home, the Kotzen trained gelding kicked on to score an impressive win, scoring by over a length and three-quarters.

Rank outsider, and Gauteng raider, Irfaan’s Boy, defied his starting price of 25-1 to take second, with tote favourite Cosmic Highway losing his unbeaten record back in third. A son of Gimmethegreenlight, Cosmic Highway had won his first two, including the G3 Cape Of Good Hope Nursery, but could only finish third, while making his KwaZulu-Natal debut, three lengths off the Lammerskraal Stud-bredwinner.

Good Traveller, who claimed his first graded win in a time of 63.63 seconds, was a R200 000 buy from the 2020 National Sale.

He is one of seven stakes winners sired by the Lammerskraal Stud based Visionaire -South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2014-2015.

The 2021 Godolphin Barb Stakes winner is out of Western Winter mare Skylar Lane -a winning own sister to the G1 winners Solo Traveller (Cape Guineas) and Redberry Lane (Garden Province Stakes).
