Sandown Stud’s multiple G1 winning new stallion Soqrat is by an inform stallion in the form of Epaulette.

The latter, also responsible for this season’s G1 Del Mar Oaks winner Red Lark, came up with yet another black-type winner when his daughter Amica Nostra captured the Listed La Coupe de Marseilles at Marseille Borely on Friday.

The three-year-old filly stayed on to claim the Listed race over 2000m by a length while accounting for some race hardened older rivals.

Amica Nostra, who is out of the Royal Applause mare Qenaa, was making just the third start of her career.

Doomben Ten Thousand winner Epaulette (by Commands) has now supplied 25 black-type horses, with his best son Soqrat is set to stand his first season at Sandown Stud this year.

A champion at two, the triple G1 winner Soqrat earned more than R3.5 million during his career which saw Soqrat firmly established as one of the leaders of his generation at two, three and four!
